KVH(R) Construction timber is visually or mechanically sorted and calibrated timber from spruce, fir, pine, larch or Douglas fir. It has defined dimensional accuracy for visible and invisible areas and has properties that surpass the standard requirements. Cut either with separate hearts or heart-free, KVH is stable in form and dimension. The dimension accuracy is achieved through calibration, i.e. by light planing after drying the wood.
KVH has to conform to a number of stringent regulations as compared to conventional timber. The adherence to these regulations is maintained through operational quality checks as well as through strict and neutral external checks by control institutes, which are authorized by the monitoring association. To be able to provide a clear product definition to the technical and industrial user, the KVH Monitoring Association and the Confederation of German Master Carpenters (BDZ) reached an agreement to regulate a uniform product specification that is independent of the manufacturers.
