What does KREUZHOLZ mean?
Kreuzholz differs from other sawn timbers in the way it is cut. Squared timbers are called cross-cut timbers that are obtained from round timber by making one horizontal and one vertical cut.
Through this cross cut There are advantages over full cross-sections:
The wood obtained in this way not only has a better appearance than single-stem woods, it is also much more consistent and torsion-resistant (i.e. the wood is less likely to warp).
Do you have any questions or problems finding suitable cross wood? We will be happy to advise you on choosing the right products!
GELo Kreuzholz
We produce the cross wood from Spruce, fir, pine. Through the different tree species we create a large Diversity to Kreuzholz from the Fichtelgebirge.
The cross is in three cutting classes (AB, A and S). On request we also produce the cross wood technically dried or dip-impregnated.

Applications of KREUZHOLZ
The cross wood is primarily used for the following areas:
- Interior Design
- structural engineering
- Timber frame construction
- supports in formwork construction
- wooden formwork in civil engineering
The cross wood impresses with its special optics, which makes it popular for interior design or timber frame construction. For structural engineering, cross-timber is used primarily because of the high resilience, which is caused by the low tendency to crack formation.
Advantages of Crosswood
-
- high resistance
- particularly beautiful optics
-
- high torsional stability
- elimination of the internal tension of the wood
- low tendency to crack formation

FAQ
What is crosswood?
Cross-cut timber is the name given to squared timbers that are made from wood by making a horizontal and a vertical cut. This results in a cross-cut. The cross-cut has advantages over cross-cuts, such as a low tendency to crack.
Why does crosswood look so special?
The lumber is sawn out of the logs parallel to the trunk axis. This creates the cross-section of a cross.
What causes the low tendency for cracks to form in cross-section timber?
The outer annual rings are cut away when the cross-section is cut. These outer annual rings have a higher moisture content, which is therefore eliminated.
In which dimensions is the cross wood available from GELO?
The cross wood is available in the dimensions 76x76 mm to 142x142mm.
