FAQ
What is the difference between lumber and structural timber?
Construction timber is refined sawn timber. The abbreviation KVH is a protected product name for special construction timber with clearly defined quality properties that go beyond the requirements of DIN 4074. KVH is also used when stability and load-bearing capacity play a major role. In contrast to construction timber, KVH must meet stricter criteria when it comes to wood moisture, type of cut and surface quality.
Which wood is good lumber?
There are many types of wood that prove to be good wood. They differ in their hardness, durability, processing and weather resistance. Spruce wood is most commonly used for building houses. Larches are considered to be particularly weather-resistant. Hardwood such as larch is recommended for building terraces.
Which wood for furniture making?
Wood can be used in interior and furniture construction. Hardwoods such as birch and oak are particularly popular in furniture construction. But pine and spruce are also popular. When it comes to interior design, the choice is between solid wood and veneer. If an absolute fit is not important and the furniture construction is kept rather simple, solid wood is recommended. For higher quality woods, however, veneers can be used.
Is lumber expensive?
The price of wood has risen sharply in recent months. The reason for this is the Corona crisis, the war in Ukraine and the resulting shortage of wood with increased demand. Demand increased both domestically and abroad, especially during the Corona pandemic. This is referred to as a real construction boom.
