GELO donates blood

It's always a good day to save a life!

On Wednesday, March 29.03.2017, XNUMX, the first Mega Blood Donation Day took place in Weißenstadt.

Of course, GELO also took part in the campaign, which had the motto "It's always a good day to save a life!" 22 employees were tapped to do good. Many thanks to all donors and helpers who made this campaign possible.

Interview in the Frankenpost with GELO Managing Director Wolf-Christian Küspert from 25.03.2017

Why do you, as an entrepreneur, support the Red Cross blood donation campaign?

Quite simply because it's a great idea. Deputy Mayor Holger Grießhammer and I were thinking a while ago about whether a larger blood donation event would be possible in Weißenstadt. Holger and our BRK in Weißenstadt, headed by Philipp Jahreis, organized it brilliantly. And yes, I asked around in our company and wanted to know whether the employees were interested.

Are you interested?

A good half of all employees spontaneously said they would take part, including many first-time donors. That would be 50 men and women. If at least 30 of them actually let themselves be bled, it would be a great success.

What fascinates you so much about the campaign?

Donating blood is a relatively simple way to help other people. The public should be more aware of this. I feel the same way myself. How often have I thought, I could actually go and donate blood today. But then something else came up.

Have you ever donated blood?

Unfortunately not, but of course I'll go on Wednesday. The fascinating thing is that almost all of Weißenstadt's business owners are taking part in the campaign and supporting it. Even the smaller companies are taking part. It's certainly even more difficult for them to get their employees off work to donate blood.

Do you actually let employees donate blood during working hours?

Yes, we will organize this in every department. The event starts at 14 p.m., but we wouldn't have minded if it had started at 9 a.m. After all, what is an hour compared to a human life?

Is this a one-time promotion?

I hope that the companies and business people in Weißenstadt are setting an example for a strong community. The blood donation campaign can develop into a wonderful tradition that brings us all together and draws national attention to Weißenstadt. If we can find imitators in the district, then we will be planting the seeds for a success story on Wednesday. What could be better than saying: Weißenstadt saves lives.
