What is frame wood?
frame wood is a building material made from wood and used for the construction of Frame structures such as walls, roofs and flooring.
In addition, frames are an important part of construction of prefabricated houses, the demand for which is growing ever faster.
Timber frames are made (similar to cross-timbering) with horizontal and vertical cuts from stronger logs.
The difference to Kreuzholz (also called quarter wood) is simply that the frame timbers must be cut from at least sixths or eighths of the timber of a trunk.

FAQ
What does frame wood mean?
Frame timber is sawn timber made from at least six pieces of core-separated round timber. This makes it stronger, more stable and less prone to warping than comparable cuts made from solid wood. Frame timber is used primarily in roof and interior construction, as a wooden substructure for wall cladding, for all types of wooden construction and in furniture construction.
Why use frame wood?
Framing lumber is used to construct buildings. It forms the frame of a building and carries the load of the roof, walls and floor.
What are the properties of frame wood?
Framing timber is strong, lightweight and easy to work with. It is a good choice for timber construction because it is energy efficient and sustainable. It can also be well insulated and can be finished with different types of cladding and finishes to suit the aesthetic requirements of the building.
What is the difference between frame timber and cross timber?
Similar to cross-timbers, wooden frames are made from thicker trunks with horizontal and vertical cuts. The only difference to cross-timbers is that the frame timbers must be cut from at least one sixth or eighth of the timber of a trunk.
