What are slats?
Broadly speaking, slats are usually long, square pieces of wood.
For context: As a rule, a slat is thinner than a beam, but thicker than a strip and narrower than a board.
Whether it's a roof batten, fence batten or counter batten: the intended use makes the difference – you can find out more about this later on: under "Uses of battens".
Incidentally, GELO has also received multiple certifications regarding product safety and sustainability !
Do you have any questions or problems finding the right slats? We are always happy to advise you on choosing the right products!

Applications of HOLZLatten
Differences in slats
The intended use makes the difference – whether used as a fence slat, roof batten, counter batten, or even as a shelf slat, the manufacturing and grading differ. The S10 grade according to DIN 4074-1 (or the S24 grade according to DIN EN 14081-1) provides a guideline: it defines the strength class according to which the slat may be used.
Various types of battens can be used in your construction projects. Areas of application for battens include:
- Roof coverings
- substructures for walls and ceilings
- Drywall
- substructure for facades
- stage and shop construction
- etc.
Key differences between "normal" slats and C24 slats are:
- stronger incision size
- on knots carefully sorted
- red / marked forehead ends
- CE stamp with the strength class on each slat
